Steps to Add and Stream Kanopy on Roku
Kanopy is a free streaming application that you can use with a library card or university credentials. With Kanopy on Roku, you can stream ground-breaking documentaries, critically- acclaimed films, and kids’ programs. Since Kanopy is officially available in the Channel Store, you can effortlessly install it on Roku.
Note: To stream Kanopy through an academic institution, you don’t need to create a Kanopy account to watch films. You can directly log in with your public library card to access the on-demand content.
- Connect Roku to a WiFi Network
As a preliminary requirement, connect your Roku to a WiFi connection.
- Access Streaming Channels
Press Home on the Roku remote to go to the home page. Using the remote, scroll down the left sidebar and click Streaming Channels.
- Search for Kanopy
On the next page, click Search Channels. Type Kanopy using the on-screen keypad and search for it.
- Add the Kanopy Channel
Choose Kanopy from the corresponding search suggestions and click the Add Channel button. Wait a few moments and click OK when the process is complete.
- Launch the Kanopy Channel
Tap Go to Channel to open the Kanopy application on your device.
- Play a Film on Kanopy
Once the welcome page appears, browse the library, select a film, and click Play. This will trigger the channel linking process and display an activation code on your Roku TV screen.
- Visit the Kanopy Activation Website
Go to http://www.kanopy.com/link using a PC or mobile browser. If you haven’t logged into your account, you will be asked to do so before entering a code. Enter the code in the suitable field and click Submit.
- Stream Kanopy Films on TV
If the linking is successful, a confirmation message will appear. Press OK on the remote and start watching films and documentaries on a big screen.
