Steps to Stream Google Photos on Roku
Although there is no dedicated app for Google Photos on the Channel Store, you can still stream photos using the PhotoView app. Upon installation, launch the PhotoView app and link your Roku device to the Google account. If the account linking is successful, you can access all media files that you have backed up to Google Photos. If you are still unclear about using the PhotoView app, go through the steps below one by one.
- Set up an Internet Connection on Roku
Navigate to the Network settings and connect your Roku device to WiFi.
- Go to Streaming Channels
On Roku’s home screen, highlight the Streaming Channels option and click the OK key on the remote to launch the Channel Store.
- Select Search and enter PhotoView
On the Streaming Channels tab, scroll to the Search Channels option and click on it. Using a virtual keyboard, type and search for the PhotoView app.
- Click Add Channel
From the results, select the PhotoView app and click the Add Channel option. The channel will be installed on your Roku and added to the home page for quick navigation.
- Launch the PhotoView App
Go back to your Roku home screen and scroll to the end of the home screen. Then, highlight the PhotoView app and hit the OK button to launch it.
- Note the Code
Once you launch the app, it will display the website link and a code on the screen. Note down the code. If the code expires, click Get a new code.
- Go to the PhotoView website
Open a browser on your smartphone and visit photoviewapp.com/link. Once you reach the destination webpage, enter the noted code on the given space and tap the Link Device button.
- Choose the Account
On the upcoming screen, you will asked to select the Google Account. Now, choose the Google Account in which you have synced all the photos and enter the credentials for the account. Then, Allow Photoview to access the Google Photos.
- Stream Google Photos
Once you complete the login and linking process, you can see a Successfully Linked Account message on the Roku screen. Following the message, select Continue. On the next tab, tap the Google Photos Albums tab and preview all the photos and videos on your Roku.
